With the temps dropping along with the leaves, now is the perfect time to hit the streets and enjoy an outdoor run among the fall foliage. Here are a few fun runs coming up over the next couple months.
OCTOBER
Fight for Air Walk: 1 Mile Walk, 3 Mile Walk or 5K Fun Run from Principal Park in Des Moines
Johnston Spooktacular 5K Fun Run: 8 a.m. Johnston High School, Johston, IA. Costumes encouraged.
Principal Financial Group 5K Road Race: In conjunction with the Des Moines Marathon. Starts at Nollen Plaza at 8:30 a.m.
Des Moines Race for the Cure:Starts at 9 a.m. on the State of Iowa Capitol Grounds.
Chocolaterie Stam Halloween Hot Chocolate Race:Halloween fun for the whole family. Race starts at Principal Park and ends at Chocolaterie Stam with a cup of hot chocolate.
NOVEMBER
Fairgrounds 5k: Starting at 1:00 p.m., runners, joggers and walkers will experience the Iowa State Fairgrounds’ park-like setting without the hustle and bustle of the Fair.
Living History Farms Off-Road Race: A local favorite, this 7k will challenge you as you wade through creeks, dodge farm animals and claw your way to the top of gullies.
Tour de Lights: Get a whole different perspective by walking, running or biking through Jolly Holiday Lights at Waterworks Park.
46th Annual Turkey Trot: Iowa’s Oldest Road Race takes place at the Iowa State Fairgrounds
