No. ASK is not designed for securing rotations or for job placement, it is a tool for networking.

Post your available position on the internal DMU job opportunities site for the 15,000+ alumni and students of Des Moines University who may be seeking employment. Positions are reviewed for consideration by Alumni Relations staff members on a weekly basis and are restricted to career-related and professional opportunities suitable to our degree programs. Posting a job is as easy as copying your position description and application instructions in the job form.

The cost to be involved in ASK is primarily your time. We do not require any fees or donations to be involved. If you host an ASK dinner, lunch or coffee, it is encouraged that you plan accordingly for this expense. You can determine the number of students or staff members you host.

In addition, travel expenses incurred for ASK are not reimbursable.

You get out of it what you put into it; you determine the amount of time you want to commit to being involved because it is all voluntary.

Students most commonly engage with the ASK network through passive surfing of alumni profiles. The ability to search the ASK directory and/or LinkedIn profiles provides students with a wealth of information. Even if students don’t reach out to you, by being visible and a part of the group, you serve as an important career development resource for them.

Recent graduates are in a unique position. Whether you are engaged in a job search, in residency, or fully employed, recent graduates are most commonly contacted by students because your recent collegiate experience is most similar to theirs.
