Des Moines, Iowa – Nelson Musoba, M.D., public health doctor from Nigeria, will present “A Physician’s Perspective of HIV/AIDS in Uganda” on Monday, September 19 from noon – 1 p.m. Immediately following, Carolyn Beverly, M.D., M.P.H., will address AIDS rates in Polk County followed by a question and answer session.
The forum will be held on the Des Moines University campus in the Student Education Center (SEC) auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Nelson Musoba, M.D., is a consultant at the Public Private Partnership in Health at Uganda’s Ministry of Health. In this capacity, Dr. Musoba coordinates and supervises groundbreaking health research and policy formulation across Uganda. In addition to this work, Dr. Musoba specializes in HIV/AIDS management and advocacy – he currently serves as executive director of the Action Group for Health, Human Rights and HIV/AIDS (AGHA) and as chair of AIDS Information Center (AIC) Advisory Committee, Western region, and has formerly served as Rakai district HIV/AIDS coordinator.
Carolyn Beverly, M.D., is both a faculty member in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the medical director for the College of Health Sciences at Des Moines University. Previously, Dr. Beverly served as the director for the Polk County Health Department. She also worked three years at the city and state health departments in Richmond, Virginia and for six years at the Arkansas State Department of Health.
