Don’t miss free goodies, health screenings, OMM treatments at Aug. 10 DMU Day at State Fair

(Des Moines, IA) –In between eating a corn dog and visiting the livestock barns, stop by the Des Moines University tent on the Grand Concourse August 10.

“We are proud to sponsor Des Moines University day at the fair,” said University president, Gov. Terry E. Branstad. “As Iowa’s largest medical school, we are very concerned with the health of Iowans. What better place to connect with Iowans than at our great state fair?”

At the Des Moines University (DMU) tent, visitors can take a health quiz for a chance to win a collapsible frisbee. They can also take home a free magnetic shopping list or bottle of hand sanitizer, bandaid dispenser and pen. Kids can get a temporary tattoo that looks like a bandaid or stitches.

DMU students and physicians from the Des Moines University Clinic will be offering osteopathic manipulation – a hands-on treatment to adjust misalignment in the skeletal system. This will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to Sunday’s tent on the concourse, DMU physicians and students will be checking blood pressure and body fat levels in Farm Bureau Park on August 9 and 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Physicians will also be available in this tent to discuss your personal risks of breast cancer.
