CPMS Wins Awards at National APMA Meeting

At the 2008 National APMA Annual Scientific Meeting held July 24-27 in Honolulu, Hawaii, CPMS presented seven scientific poster abstracts and one oral abstract.

Rachel Jung (DPM ’09) received the first place award and a $1,000 honorarium in the Resident/Student Category for her research project entitled, “A comparison of bone quality in diabetic versus non-diabetic patient populations: surgical implications.” Co-authors include Drs. Robert Yoho, Vassilios Vardaxis and Jill Frerichs.

Josh Moore (DPM ’09) received the second place award and a $500 honorarium in the Resident/Student Category for his research project titled, “A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over study to determine the effects of topical Ketamine on lower extremity painful diabetic neuropathy.” Co-authors include Dr. James Mahoney and students Kyle Haffner (DPM ‘09) and Matthew Peterson (DPM’09).

Dr. Roy Lidtke received the second place award in the Oral Abstract Category for his project titled, “Anatomic relationship of heel spur to surrounding soft tissue: greater variability than previously reported.”
