DMU alum chosen as president-elect for ACFAS

(Des Moines) – Des Moines’ Michael S. Lee, D.P.M., FACFAS, was named president-elect of the 6,000-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).

Dr. Lee is a 1996 graduate of Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He is a current clinical associate professor at Des Moines University (DMU) and supervises students on rotations.

R. Tim Yoho, D.P.M., FACFAS, dean of the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, said, “Dr. Lee is a great asset to our school and our students. We are proud of him and know he has worked hard for this honor.”

The honor was announced at the ACFAS 67th Annual Scientific Conference in Washington. The conference is the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the U.S., draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

“ACFAS is a forum and network of the best and the brightest minds in the field of podiatric surgery, and I am honored to be granted the opportunity to serve my profession in this way,” said Dr. Lee.

Dr. Lee practices with Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Des Moines with a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of all musculoskeletal foot and ankle conditions including reconstruction, trauma and sports injuries. He is team podiatric physician for the Iowa Chops AHL hockey team, Iowa Barnstormers AFL2 football team and area universities and colleges.
