Yay! Today is a day to honor & thank some very important people – doctors. Whether you are one, are in school to be one, go to one or know one – you surely can agree that these are special people. Whether they’re D.O., M.D., Ph.D., D.P.M., D.P.T. or some other, they give of themselves in so many ways for the good of others.
Take the time today or this week to drop a note of thanks to a doctor who was helpful to you or your family. Or just thank one you know.
I, personally, would like to send a big thank you to all of our awesome professors, docs in the Des Moines University Clinic and of course, our alumni. Thanks to our students for committing your future to helping others.
A bit of history for you… Doctors’ Day was first observed March 30, 1933 which marked the first time anesthesia was used in surgery. In 1958, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution to commemorate doctors’ day. And in 1990, congress & senate approved a national doctors’ day. They designated March 30 as the day for Americans to honor doctors and President George Bush approved it. See & you thought I was making this holiday up, didn’t you?
