Often when victims of domestic violence flee for safety they have nothing but what they’re currently wearing. The FreeStore is designed to help them start fresh by providing what’s needed to setup a new home.
As you’re spring cleaning out your garage or getting ready to move for rotations or residency, think of what you could possibly pass on to the FreeStore!
Children & Families of Iowa is working with the store to host “Fill the Mayflower” May 14-16 in the Valley West Mall parking lot. They hope to stuff a Mayflower trailer with household goods for those creating a new life. Please swing by if you have anything to donate! Also, if you visit the trailer Saturday between 11 & 2, you can drop a $5 suggested donation off & get a yummy lunch from the Iowa Barbeque Society!
Some particularly needed items are bedframes & mattresses, dressers, kitchen tables, linens, dishes, pots & pants, living room furniture, kitchenware and microwaves.
