A new Gallup & Healthways survey scored 187 metro areas and rated the Des Moines/West Des Moines area at #3 on the top ten safe & healthy place list. The survey factored in violent and property crime rates, as well as access to 13 basic needs like fresh fruit and veggies, shelter, clean water and health care.
