Not only does this upcoming weekend include mother’s day, it’s also Tulip Time!
For those of you new to the area, Tulip Time is an annual festival in Pella (about 45 minutes to the east of Des Moines) celebrating the city’s Dutch heritage. The entire city is covered in gorgeous tulips of every color, plus there’s always great parades, awesome food and fun things to browse.
There’s a historical home tour, quilt show, craft show, 5K, art show, car show, concert and more. Check the full schedule (now removed) to plan out your day. And just so you know, the parade is free, many of the tours & shows are free, parking is free, people-watching is free and it’s a really nice family outing.
