Global Health book drive to benefit the Sudan-American Foundation for Education

Together with the Des Moines University library and the Community Service Committee, the Global Health Department initiated a book drive to benefit the Sudan-American Foundation for Education (SAFE) during the month of May.  The response was above and beyond what was initially expected!

Over 500 books have been collected and are waiting to be boxed up and shipped to the SAFE schools in Sudan.  To help off-set the cost of shipping the books, the Community Service Committee sold casual day stickers to employees and raised over $300. Thanks to everyone that donated and remember the book drive next spring as we hope to make this an annual event. For more information, please visit the SAFE website at: www.sudan-safe.org.
