Coates is an associate professor with the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He is program director of the surgical critical care fellowship and serves on the admissions committee for the school of medicine. He is vice chief of the department of trauma at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada’s only level one trauma center, and recently was named medical director of the Lion’s Regional Burn Center at University Medical Centers in Las Vegas. He is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care.
