Buser is the vice president for health affairs and dean of the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) in Pikeville, KY, and was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Governors for the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO). He was also elected to a one-year term on the AAO nominating committee. He is board certified in neuromusculoskeletal medicine/osteopathic manipulative medicine and family practice. He previously served as department chair, associate dean, interim dean and vice president at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a former chair of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and was named Educator of the Year by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American Osteopathic Foundation in 1994. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Maine Osteopathic Association in 1996 and 2007. He is a member of the Kentucky Institute of Medicine, the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, the AOA Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of the Osteopathic International Alliance. He and his wife, Pam, reside in Pikeville.
