Des Moines University students Amanda Jepson, D.O. ’15, and Michael Stencel, D.O. ’15, won prizes for their posters and presentations at the 16th Annual Iowa Physiological Society Meeting held September 29 in the Medical Education Center.
Jepson received first place in the graduate student category for her presentation, “The Effects of Exercise Training on Cardiac Arrythmogenesis and Left Ventricular Connexin 43 Expression in Aged and Young Rats.”
Stencel earned third place in the graduate student category for his presentation, “Endothelial Regulation of Calmodulin Expression in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells.”
Additionally, Lara Terry, a Drake University student working with Kim Tran, M.D., Ph.D. in the mentored research program, won first place in the undergraduate category.
