Each year, one week before Thanksgiving, the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness co-sponsor National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week (November 10-18).
Des Moines University is taking part in a nationwide effort to bring greater awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness during this time. Here on campus the Homeless Camp Outreach student organization is asking people to pledge to skip a meal on Sunday, November 18, in support of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Stop by the Student Education Center to make your pledge or if you can’t make it to campus consider donating the money you would have spent on that meal to help those in our community who go without on a daily basis.
