Des Moines University campus and clinic is closed today in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
In celebration and remembrance of his leadership in the civil rights movement, the Des Moines University library has put together an exhibit that ties our school and one of our alums to him.
Dr. William Anderson, D.O.’56, became an early leader in the civil rights movement along with his friend Martin Luther King Jr. in the early 60s. At a time when even white D.O.s faced professional discrimination, Anderson rose to the top, advocating for his profession and other African-American physicians.
