Welch works full-time at Primary Health Care in West Des Moines, IA, in family practice for under-served patients. She is still doing weekend work at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA, in adult and child inpatient psychiatry. Her youngest child left for graduate school in Wales in September, and she and her husband are now empty-nesters.
