Stephen N. Van Roekel, D.O.’99, FACEP, FAAEM

Van Roekel was named facility medical director of First Choice Emergency Room’s new Austin Arboretum location in Austin, TX. He completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, and has worked for First Choice ER since 2009. The organization is the leading freestanding emergency room system in the United States, with eight locations in the Houston area, five in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and one in Austin. “Dr. Van Roekel is an excellent emergency physician, and we are proud to have him lead our newest location in Austin. We are confident he and his team will deliver world-class patient care,” said Mike Muzzarelli, M.D., executive medical director of First Choice Emergency Room.
