Silberman retired from the Federal Aviation Administration on Dec. 31, 2012. He now is the medical director of Harvey Watt & Company, a pilot disability insurance company in Atlanta, and is on contract with the 400,000-member Aircraft Operators and Pilots Association. He also is an aviation medical examiner in Oklahoma City, where he and his wife, Yvonne, reside.
