Tomorrow hundreds of ladies dressed in red will descend upon the DMU campus for one big cause: the American Heart Association of Iowa‘s annual Go Red For Women luncheon.

Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease in women. They are committed to the fight, for as long as it takes.

Each year cardiovascular disease claims the lives of over 930,000. While many consider heart disease to be a man’s disease, the truth is that for women, the statistics are as equally daunting. Because women are often busy caring for others, they can easily neglect their own health – and often do. At the event, various speakers will take the stage to shed some light on the subject and to help uncover the truth about heart disease.

Des Moines University has a special role in the movement this year as our very own president, Dr. Angela Walker-Franklin is the 2013 Luncheon Chair.
