With a chill in the air and the first flakes falling earlier this week, it seems fitting that today would be the opening day for the Brenton Skating Plaza.
The fun starts tonight at 5 p.m. as eager skaters take to the ice for the kick-off of the 2013-2014 ice skating season. Another great idea would be to grab a bite to eat in the downtown neighborhood and head over later to work off dinner – the rink is open until 9 p.m.
[FYI: One hour of ice skating burns about as many calories as jogging. A person who weighs 120 pounds will burn 381 calories in one hour of ice skating. A person weighing 180 pounds burns 572 calories in an hour of skating.]
During the first weekend (Nov. 14-17) help the plaza with their mission to collect as many non-perishable food items to help the needy during the holiday season.
