Rierson joined Northwest Iowa Bone, Joint and Sports Surgeons in Spencer, IA, at the beginning of August. He attended the University of Iowa and finished medical school at DMU, graduating in 2008. He most recently completed his residency at Michigan State University in Lansing in June 2013.
Rierson specializes in orthopedics, total joint replacement and general hand surgery, and serves patients in both Spirit Lake and Estherville.
Returning to northwest Iowa was an easy decision for Rierson.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to the area, closer to family, to where we grew up,” he said. “It will be super busy, but I’m looking forward to it. The hospital is great and I’m looking forward to using my talents [here]. We just feel really lucky and blessed to be coming back. The area kind of grows on you and it will be fun to be back and working.”
