Drew Lewis, D.O., assistant professor of Osteopathic Manual Medicine and clinician in the OMM and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics, was named Physician of the Year by the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association (IOMA). The award honors osteopathic physicians who exhibit a notable commitment to their profession, patients and colleagues. Lewis received the award at the Upper Midwest Osteopathic Health Conference, which was held May 1-4, 2014 at the Embassy Suites on the River in Des Moines, Iowa.
Colleagues nominated Lewis for the honor, writing, “He has always impressed me as someone who cares deeply for his patients, his family, his colleagues, osteopathy in general and how osteopathic medicine is promoted and practiced in Iowa. He has made broad service contributions to the University and the community and was recognized with the Dean’s Award for outstanding community service in 2012.”
Founded in 1898, IOMA proudly represents approximately 1,000 osteopathic physicians in Iowa. Officers and trustees of the organization select a Physician of the Year only when suitable candidates are presented for consideration.
