Leonard A. Mermel presented a keynote address at the 24th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Barcelona, Spain, May 10-13, 2014. It was titled “On the Cutting Edge of Infection Control Research: What To Do When the Evidence is Missing.” He is also the 2014 recipient of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America Mentor Scholar Award, which recognizes individuals for their dedication and excellence in mentoring trainees in infection prevention and control.
