DMU students know how to work hard and play hard. Here’s why we love it:
1. Strong sense of community
With only health science graduate programs at DMU, it is easy to be connected with not only your classmates but also all other students at DMU. Collaboration in the classroom is the norm, with students sharing notes and studying together. Faculty and staff are extremely supportive, and successes are celebrated. Grad school is challenging, but DMU provides a comfortable, supportive community geared toward success.
2. Technology
Technology is everywhere at DMU creating many opportunities for hands-on learning. Students benefit from our state-of-the-art simulation teaching tools, Standardized Performance Assessment Laboratory, and anatomy lab. In addition, lectures are audio recorded so you can listen again as you prepare for exams.
3. Ways to get involved
With over 70 clubs and organizations on campus, there are plenty of ways to get involved outside the classroom. You’ll probably want to join a club specific to your program of study, but why not also get involved with dermatology club, homeless camp outreach, or geriatrics club? Are you interested in learning more about how to be a great professional in an increasingly global environment? Take advantage of the many events sponsored by the Department of Multicultural Affairs. You’ll never be bored at DMU!
4. Des Moines
Not only do we have a beautiful campus, the city is great too! Downtown Des Moines is only 2 miles east of campus and features unique restaurants, eclectic shops and plenty of entertainment options including Broadway shows at the Civic Center, sporting events and concerts at Wells Fargo Arena and much more.
5. Great outcomes
Our graduates are highly successful! We are proud to report that our clinical students are scoring above the national average on boards. And when they graduate, our students are finding jobs quickly and are representing DMU well as alumni.
