David E. Drake, D.O.’83

David E. Drake, D.O., was asked to serve on the security committee of the national organization Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), which focuses on the abolition of nuclear weapons. PSR also seeks to use its members’ medical and public health expertise to reverse the trajectory toward climate change, protect the public and the environment from toxic chemicals, and eliminate the use of nuclear power. A Des Moines-based family psychiatrist, Drake also hoped to accompany, in January 2016, a medical team of the Washington state PSR chapter to a mental health center in Gaza, where depression and rates of suicide are on the rise.
