Experience the DMU campus and expand your medical knowledge – without taking the MCAT. Attend Mini Med School, a program that offers the public non-credit education on popular topics in health and medicine.

The five-week Mini Med School experience runs Tuesday evenings 7-9 p.m. through March 7, and the public is welcome to register at any point, including in-person the evening of an event. 

February 7 – “Spelunking for Carnivores: Climate Change, Ice Age Extinctions & DNA”

February 14 – “Valentine’s Day Special: The Science of Love and Loneliness”
Presenter: Dr. Jeritt Tucker 

February 21 – “Outbreak! Dodging Contagious Disease & Cognitive Decline”
Presenter: Dr. Patricia Quinlisk 

February 28 – “Have Your Cake and Eat it, Too: Balancing Weight and Hypertension”  
Presenter:Dr. Maria Barnes

March 7 – “Go with the Flow: Assessing Circulation in your Legs”
Presenter: Dr. James Mahoney 

$25 covers all five sessions. ($10 for students and educators.) Attendees 14 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult. All sessions are held in the Des Moines University Student Education Center (SEC) at 3300 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. Campus map and directions
