Scott Nelson, D.P.M.’00, FACFAS

On March 23, Scott C. Nelson, D.P.M.’00, FACFAS, took office as secretary-treasurer of the 7,500-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). The official induction took place at the ACFAS 76th Annual Scientific Conference in Nashville, TN.

The largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the U.S., the conference draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

“I am extremely honored to have been elected to the Board of Directors and excited to be selected as a member of Executive Committee to help lead the charge of our profession,” Nelson says. “I believe the work we do for our 7,500 members is extremely important and it, along with the patients we care for, is what motivates me to serve in this capacity.”

Nelson is a foot and ankle surgeon with Catholic Health Initiative–Orthopedics/Foot and Ankle in Omaha and Papillion, NE. He is board-certified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He completed his residency at both the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Mary’s, OH. He frequently lectures on foot and ankle surgery, and his research has been published in numerous journals and textbooks.
