On Tuesday, Nov. 13, Des Moines University Continuing Medical Education hosted the Iowa Physical Therapy Association Southwest District meeting in collaboration with the DMU Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. DMU physical therapy students shared evidence-based research poster and oral presentations with a group of more than 75 individuals.
The D.P.T. evidence-based practice presentations allow DMU students to challenge norms and gain knowledge and confidence from their interactions with clinicians and faculty. A vision of DMU is to be a cultivator of distinctive faculty and student researchers who discover and disseminate new knowledge. By participating in these research presentations, D.P.T. students are lending to the development of their peers and advancement of their profession.
View photos from the poster presentations or listen to the recording of the oral presentations.
Join us for more evidence-based research presentations at the DMU Research Symposium on Dec. 6, 2018! The symposium includes more than 80 posters, four oral presentations, one keynote presentation from an internationally recognized researcher and author, and the University’s first-ever scientific photo exhibition.
The next IPTA Southwest District meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2019. Our special guest will be Allison Larson, P.T., D.P.T., a physical therapist at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital, who will cover the topic of using electrical stimulation for muscle recovery post-CVA.
