DMU’s master of health care administration (M.H.A.) program prepares students to lead and succeed in the growing health care industry. Beginning this fall, they can learn how to do so with greater flexibility: Students will be able to complete the program entirely online.
“The online option will create greater opportunities for people across the country to gain skills and knowledge and advance their careers in health care,” says Rachel Reimer, M.S., Ph.D., chair of DMU’s public health department. “But whether they complete the program online or with the on-campus courses, they will have a faculty adviser and the same academic rigor, professional development opportunities and access to educational resources and student clubs.”
As an option, students in the 48-credit-hour program can participate in three on-campus professional development courses that also provide valuable networking opportunities.
The M.H.A. degree and the master of public health degree (M.P.H.) offered by the public health department also will be more affordable for many students. Beginning this fall, DMU students and alumni, members of the American Osteopathic Association, active members of the military and veterans will receive a 10 percent tuition discount for either program.
In addition, DMU clinical students who take the professional development courses offered by the department will have a 25 percent discount in tuition for those programs.
“Many of our clinical students want to expand their expertise with these courses or by pursuing the M.H.A. or M.P.H. degree as a dual degree,” Reimer says. “This new tuition discount offers an incentive for them to get that additional expertise, which is crucial in our increasingly complex health care system.”
