James Paul “J.P.” Maganito, D.O.’05, M.H.A.’05, M.P.H.’05

James Paul “J.P.” Maganito, D.O.’05, M.H.A.’05, M.P.H.’05, became chief of staff at the Montana Veterans Administration Health Care System on July 21, 2019. He first joined the Montana VA Health Care System in Fort Harrison in 2012, serving as staff gynecologist and occupational health medical officer and women’s health medical director until 2015. During his time at the VA, he was involved in multiple process improvement and women’s health committees, helping increase access to care for veterans. After finishing his internship and residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI, in 2009, he became and has maintained his board certification with the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. He had left the VA in 2015 to pursue subspecialty training as a female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery fellow, with plans to return to the VA. Maganito spent the past few years as a lead medical director and chief medical officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, where he was responsible for providing executive medical leadership as a spokesperson on medical affairs, management, policy and procedure. He is a 2016 graduate of the Montana Medical Association Physician Leadership Effectiveness Program and was recently accepted as a fellow in the American Hospital Insurance Plan Physician Executive Leadership Program for 2020.
