This March, Laura Jackson and Wayne McKinney Jr. began their terms on the DMU Board of Trustees.
Jackson joined Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Des Moines in 2002 as senior vice president of human resources. She now is executive vice president and chief health officer of health care innovation. Her focus is ensuring Wellmark members can access affordable, high-quality care and live healthier lives.
McKinney is an attorney with McKinney Law Offices in West Des Moines, which he co-founded in 1978 after having served as assistant Polk County attorney. He has held several civil and public offices including as majority leader of the Iowa House of Representatives from 1991 to 1993. In 1995, he was appointed by the Iowa Supreme Court to serve on its Commission on Planning for the 21st Century. Earlier this year, his family sold property in West Des Moines to DMU to serve as the University’s new campus location.
