DMU’s podiatric students continue 100% residency placement tradition

Members of the DMU College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery (CPMS) Class of 2022 had a student experience unlike any other CPMS class due to the pandemic, but one thing remained the same: This spring they continued the college’s 20-plus years of its graduates achieving a 100 percent residency placement rate.

Members of the CPMS Class of 2022 landed podiatric residencies in 24 states across the country, with the most in Michigan (seven), Florida (four) and Pennsylvania (three).

Kevin Smith, D.P.M., Ph.D., M.S., FACFAS, dean of CPMS, congratulated class members via email for matching with their residency.

“We knew you could do it! You successfully navigated the challenging journey to get to this point, proof that you are meant for this noble career,” he said. “You also helped maintain CPMS students’ proud tradition of 100 percent residency placement. Keep in touch with DMU, keep believing in yourself and keep pursuing your dream of serving others as a doctor of podiatric medicine and surgery.”
