Troy Boffeli, D.P.M.’90, FACFAS, and Samantha Luer, D.P.M.’17, AACFAS, were among the authors of the article “A review of consecutive cases to identify the rate of underlying osteomyelitis in patients undergoing surgical treatment of gangrene of the forefoot and impact of acute infection on outcome following amputation,” published in the March 2022 issue of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Boffeli is director of the foot and ankle surgical residency program at Regions Hospital, HealthPartners Institute for Education and Research, in St. Paul, MN. Luer completed that residency and now is a staff surgeon at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill, NE.
