Aneesa Afroze, M.D., M.P.H.’18, infectious disease consulting physician, president of medical staff and director of the antimicrobial stewardship program at MercyOne, was named by the Des Moines Business Record as one of its 2022 Women of Influence. She and the other recipients of the award will be honored at a Business Record event on Aug. 4.
A credentialed HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine, Afroze is board-certified in infectious diseases and certified in travel health. She has spearheaded various quality improvement projects at MercyOne with pharmacists and residents. The 2019 recipient of the DMU College of Health Sciences Dean’s Leadership Award, she is an adjunct assistant professor of internal medicine at the University and a mentor to internal medicine residents as well as DMU students.
