Thomas Cavalieri, D.O.’76, was named the inaugural senior vice provost of the recently formed Virtua Health College of Medicine and Life Sciences and chief academic officer of Virtua Health. The college is a partnership between Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, and Virtua Health, South Jersey’s largest health system. Cavalieri will have oversight of all the undergraduate and graduate education and research programs and infrastructure and systems of Virtua Health College’s three schools of osteopathic medicine, nursing and health professions, and translational biomedical engineering and sciences. As the chief academic officer for Virtua, he will evaluate and coordinate the academic performance of the residents, students and fellows, ensuring that the shared strategic goals between the college and the health system stay aligned. He had served as dean of Rowan University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine since 2006.
