Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences received first place recognition for a feature story in its alumni magazine from the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Marketing and Communications Council.
Barb Dietrich Boose, who serves as the editor of the magazine and editorial director at the university, earned the first-place award in the Best Feature Article category for her piece titled “A Bold Vision Made Real.” It highlighted the development of DMU’s new 88-acre campus in West Des Moines, which the university moved to in June 2023.Â
AACOM’s Excellence in Communications Awards Program is designed to recognize the important role communications plays in advancing osteopathic medical education and the profession. Each year, more than 70 entries are reviewed in multiple categories and winners are chosen by an expert panel of judges. Entries are judged on creativity and effectiveness in fulfilling the mission of each submitting osteopathic medical school.
AACOM includes all the colleges of osteopathic medicine from around the nation. DMU is the second oldest osteopathic college in the U.S. The communication awards were presented at the association’s annual meeting in April.
