Kathleen “Katy” Laurin, Ph.D., has joined the Des Moines University Clinic — Behavioral Health located at 3200 Grand Ave., in Des Moines, as a licensed clinical psychologist.
With extensive experience in the mental health field, including private practice and a tenure at Broadlawns Medical Center, Laurin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a licensed clinical psychologist.
The DMU Clinic — Behavioral Health focuses on trauma-informed care for a range of conditions that include depression, anxiety, mood disorders, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and other behavioral and mental conditions.
As a psychologist, Laurin provides individual therapy and psychological testing services. She has a specialty interest in evaluations of memory and other cognitive changes associated with age and/or injury.
Laurin earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in geropsychology, a medical specialty that helps older people maintain well-being and overcome problems.
