DMU Clinic Partners with Drake University Hockey Club for Game Day SupportĀ

Des Moines University Clinic is partnering with the Drake University Hockey Club to provide the team with expert athletic training and sports performance services for the 2024-25 season. This collaboration reflects DMU Clinicā€™s commitment to supporting local athletes.Ā

As part of this partnership, DMU Clinicā€™s certified athletic trainers will attend all Drake Hockey Club home games, offering essential on-site support. The trainers are prepared to assess, diagnose and treat injuries that may occur during play, including musculoskeletal injuries, concussions and emergency care situations. With extensive injury prevention and rehabilitation training, DMU Clinicā€™s athletic trainers are equipped to ensure that athletes perform at their best while minimizing the risk of injury.

ā€œWe are thrilled to collaborate with Drake University Hockey Club,ā€ says Lauren Mach, P.T., D.P.T., ATC, DMU Clinicā€™s head athletic trainer and physical therapist. ā€œOur goal is to provide the highest standard of care to the players and help them maximize their athletic potential, whether they are recovering from an injury or simply enhancing their performance.ā€

In addition to game day coverage, DMU Clinic ā€” Sports Performance and Athletic Training offers a range of performance training services at its West Des Moines location within the MidAmerican Energy RecPlex. These services include strength and conditioning programs, injury prevention training and recovery therapies to help athletes of all levels improve their speed, agility and overall performance.Ā

In addition to the new partnership with Drake University Hockey Club, DMU Clinic supports several other local athletic organizations and teams like the Des Moines Oakleafs and the Des Moines Capitals. DMU Clinic has also worked with the Iowa Phoenix and Des Moines Wombats for the past four years. Other partnerships include the Iowa Demon Hawks, Des Moines Youth Hockey Association and Waukee Lacrosse.

DMU students from the Sports Medicine Club often have the opportunity to observe and assist on the sidelines during game days, gaining hands-on experience in athletic training and sports medicine. This practical exposure not only enhances their learning but also showcases the real-world applications of their studies at DMU.

Des Moines University Clinic in the MidAmerican Energy RecPlex provides a full spectrum of health and wellness services, including physical therapy, sports performance and athletic training programs. The clinic serves athletes of all ages and abilities, offering tailored services that enhance performance and support injury prevention and recovery.
