You can avoid paying the service fee by paying online with an e-check, an electronic debit to your checking account. You may also mail a check to:
Des Moines University

You may also drop a check off in the Business & Finance Office located on the fifth floor of Edge of Advancement. Please include your DMU ID number on the check.
Des Moines University is committed to providing students a range of options for paying their educational expenses. Today, a number of electronic options are available which are more advantageous from a cost perspective than paying via credit card. The credit card payment method has become prohibitively expensive because of the fees charged by credit card companies to Des Moines University for credit card transaction processing.
2.35% with a $3.95 minimum fee is the amount established by our third-party credit card processor to cover the transaction fees assessed by credit card companies.
Credit card payments are not accepted over the telephone or in person. If a third-party needs to make a payment by credit card or e-check, the student can create a Proxy user account for them in myPulse Self-Service.
No. The service fee is not refundable, even if the payment to which it relates is canceled, refunded, credited or charged back.
No. The service fee is assessed by a third-party, Official Payments, in addition to the student account payment. The service fee will not appear on your student account or on your Des Moines University statement. You will receive notification when the online payment is processed successfully. It will show the student account payment, the service fee and the total payment amount.
Two separate transactions will appear on your credit card statement. One transaction for the student account payment will appear as “OPC*Des Moines Univ” and one transaction for the service fee will appear with a description similar to “OPC COL*Service Fee”.
Yes. Credit card service fees are not unique to Des Moines University. Other schools currently charge service fees for credit card transactions.
