Know of any high-school students in the area who want to learn more about careers in health care? DMU has a great resource for them called the Exploring Post. This year they have more than 50 members from 12 area high schools. Cost for the program is $20 for the entire year (September – April), and they meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be January 10.
Here are some pictures from the most recent Exploring Post meeting in which the students learned how to scrub-in for surgery and put on gowns, gloves, masks, etc. They also learned how to intubate a patient and how to do ultrasounds. They did all of these activities in the DMU surgery labs.
