Darby Kyler, O.T.D., OTR/L, CBIS

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Kyler joined Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences in 2024 as an assistant professor in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. Before joining DMU, Dr. Kyler’s clinical practice primarily focused on physical rehabilitation for adults, most recently including outpatient neurological rehabilitation. During her clinical experience, Dr. Kyler served as an OT trainer and on the movement disorders treatment team for her clinic. Additionally, Dr. Kyler served as a community mentor and fieldwork educator for students in both in-person and remote settings. Her treatment interests include patients experiencing brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and chronic conditions. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.

Prior to clinical practice, Dr. Kyler graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

Service and Community Involvement

Dr. Kyler is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Iowa Occupational Therapy Association and Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity.
