Keyah Levy, Ed.D., M.A., B.A., brings a rich background in community health, diversity and student advocacy to her role as director of global health at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her Ed.D. in student affairs administration and leadership at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with research focused on the impact of mentoring on the retention of Black students at predominantly white institutions. She holds a master’s degree in health promotion, global health and health disparities from the University of Northern Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from the University of Iowa. Her professional journey includes leadership roles such as vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion at Simpson College and director of multicultural education and gender and sexuality services at the University of Northern Iowa. Levy’s commitment to advancing health equity has led her to develop impactful programs like “The Men of Color Health Access Project” and the “Medical Leaders Program” for middle school students during her time with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Levy is dedicated to integrating diverse perspectives in global health and fostering inclusive health initiatives at DMU.
