Laura Brady, O.T.D., OTR/L

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Brady graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in therapeutic recreation (2008) and a Master of Arts degree in youth and human service administration (2013). Dr. Brady completed her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree at Drake University in 2021. Dr. Brady’s clinical experiences have focused across the lifespan within a variety of areas, including oncology, medical telemetry, intensive care, medical surgical and behavioral health. In addition to her provider role, Dr. Brady has been highly involved in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committees providing support focused on progression of the promotion of DEI within the hospital setting. Prior to her career in occupational therapy, Dr. Brady worked as a certified therapeutic recreation specialist. Within this experience, Dr. Brady served as program director within a continuum of care, providing recreation services to varying populations. It was within this experience Dr. Brady was charged with the desire to evolve and stretch the impact of her work, leading her to occupational therapy.

Dr. Brady joined Des Moines University in 2024 as an assistant professor within the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. She has a passion for inclusivity within teaching and providing multimodal opportunities for learning for future practitioners of this wonderful profession.

Service and Community Involvement

Dr. Brady is a member of the Iowa Occupational Therapy Association and American Occupational Therapy Association.
