Dr. Johnstone joined the faculty of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in June 2021. Prior to this appointment he was in academic clinical practice at the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Campus in Oklahoma City, based out of the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center. Dr. Johnstone is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Johnstone Completed his residency training at South Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida, followed by a fellowship in Diabetic foot research in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Johnstone is a graduate of the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and prior to that a dual-degree graduate of the University of South Florida. He has lectured at several podiatric and interdisciplinary medical conferences. He lives in beautiful downtown Des Moines with his wife and little dog and is an avid fly fisherman and nationally rated fencer.
