Sharon Johansen is a physical therapist assistant with the Des Moines University Physical Therapy Clinic. Her primary focus is on sports medicine, general orthopedics, balance and fall prevention. She also provides instruction in wellness and health promotion classes. She has worked with a wide variety of patients in physical therapy and has a special interest in treating patients with neurological conditions. Ms. Johansen obtained her master of science degree in sports medicine from the United States Sports Academy in Mobile, AL. She worked as a certified athletic trainer for several years at Virginia Commonwealth University in both the athletic department and in outpatient physical therapy before returning to Iowa to earn her physical therapist assistant degree from North Iowa Area Community College.
