When the American Physical Therapy Association pledged that all physical therapy services would be offered by doctors of physical therapy by the year 2020, DMU’s online post-professional doctor of physical therapy program enabled therapists to earn the degree while continuing to practice. Given the finite and declining number of people in that category, individuals have a final opportunity to enroll in the PPDPT program by July 15.
“The program will then sunset, but it far exceeded our expectations,” says College of Health Sciences Dean Jodi Cahalan, Ph.D., M.P.H.’01, M.S.’93, PA-C’89, DFAAPA. “The physical therapy program also has a lot of great content to allow physical therapists opportunities for professional development.”
Those opportunities include courses to assist therapists seeking licensure, those wanting to develop a residency program using DMU’s online platform, and individuals seeking continuing medical education. For more information, visit the PPDPT website.
