Wellness Center Access

Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences offers wellness facilities and fitness classes at two locations:

  • 8025 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines
  • 3200 Grand Avenue in Des Moines

These facilities are exclusively available to DMU students, alumni, employees and retirees via badge access. To access either wellness center, off-campus visitors must first complete a wellness release form to obtain a badge.

Please note, DMU’s wellness centers are not open to the public. However, wellness classes and training are available through the Des Moines University Clinic.

Available 24/7

3200 Grand Wellness Center

Weekdays: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Weekends: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

8025 Grand Avenue Wellness Center

The DMU Wellness Center at 8025 Grand features:

  • Doughty Family Activity Pool
  • Groben Wellness Lab
  • Swift Gymnasium (with collegiate-sized basketball court)
  • Cycling Room
  • Cardio and Weight Equipment
  • Functional Fitness Area With an Indoor Rig
  • Group Exercise Room
  • Intramural Sports Program
  • Locker Rooms
  • Meditation Rooms
  • Two-Lane Track

3200 Grand Avenue Wellness Center

The DMU Wellness Center at 3200 Grand features:

  • Collegiate-Sized Basketball Court
  • Cardio and Weight Equipment
  • Intramural Sports Program
  • Locker Rooms
  • Multipurpose Activity Room
  • Nutrition Teaching Kitchen
  • Two-Lane Track

On-Campus Wellness Opportunities

In addition to the fitness facilities at 8025 and 3200 Grand, the university also offers the following wellness opportunities to DMU students and  employees:

  • Incentive programs to promote weight management, physical activity, nutrition, and stress management
  • Fitness classes including strength training, yoga, indoor cycling, TRX, WERQ, kickboxing, H.I.I.T., Pilates and barre
  • Body composition testing
  • Individualized exercise programs
  • Personal wellness consultations
  • Individual Personal Wellness Profile (PWP) - an assessment tool which identifies personal health risks and provides strategies for reaching health and fitness goals
  • Chair massages for a nominal fee
